Cades Cove – Little River RR & Logging Museum – Foothills Parkway

History and photo ops abound in Cades Cove, in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.  Learn about the early settlers of the area, see their original cabins, mills and churches and hear their stories.  There are many stops along the 11 mile loop road for pictures of the majestic mountains and occasionally a deer, a turkey, or a BEAR, OH MY.  Driving through Townsend, we come to The Little River RR Museum to learn about logging in The Smokies and the equipment used to get lumber down the mountain to supply the Eastern US with 40 to 60% of the lumber needed for construction in the 1920s. Our return trip will have stops along the Foothills Parkway for more beautiful mountain views and pictures.
